Senate Republicans Dropped American Democracy: the World Will Reap the Consequences

There are some ethical standards that are surprisingly similar among every nation, culture, and ethnicity. For example, the unwritten moral code “Never drop a baby” is so self-evident that it needs no codification. All understand that no person should be permitted to hold a baby on their own without sufficient maturity, judgment, and physical strength to prevent the infant from falling. When it comes to this unspoken norm, humanity requires a level of perfection that is both necessary and within our capabilities.

The US Congress holds in its hands a precocious toddler by the name of “American Democracy.” This former nursing baby thrived in the latter half of the 18th Century with the milk of liberty and religious toleration in its mouth because it eschewed the controlling influence of popes and monarchs. Through divine providence the growing baby was emancipated from self-inflicted slavery and protected from furtive attempts at its life in the 19th Century. Though still very young in comparison to more mature national polities, American Democracy has grown into a robust toddler today. But now this child faces an intrigue more insidious than any he has previously encountered. A rich narcissistic predator, offering both blandishments and threats, has beguiled the members of the toddlers’ family and enthralled them as hostages in their own chambers.

As a key family member of American Democracy, Congress has as its paramount mission the responsibility of protecting the welfare of the toddler. However, the Republicans in the Senate dropped the child on February 5, 2020 when they voted to acquit President Donald J. Trump of the two articles of impeachment brought against him. In this regard, the Senate has followed the timid example of others. A Special Counsel dropped the toddler when he subjugated enduring fundamental principles—enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution—to the less-enduring policies of the Department of Justice. Even though one particular senator averred that President Trump was guilty of the charges brought against him, the senator cowardly dropped the toddler when he voted in the recent impeachment trial to not hear witnesses nor remove the president from office.

The criminal negligence of those who have dropped the child is astonishing. However, all those who dropped the toddler prior to the Senate’s impeachment verdict dropped him in such a way that he fell on his knees and sustained injuries to some of his bones and ligaments, not to his brain. But now the Republicans in the Senate, by refusing to remove President Trump from office through impeachment, have dropped the toddler in such a violent manner that American Democracy has fallen on his head and suffered brain damage. Although he may appear strong, American Democracy’s skull and frontal lobe are now permanently damaged. His judgment and memory are impaired. He is now vulnerable to being gulled by the sophistries of those who seek his destruction.

The time is definitely coming—even if it should be temporarily delayed—when, under the influence of politically motivated priests and pastors, the toddler will grow into an utterly despotic creature who speaks like a “dragon” (Revelation 13:11). His intolerance and tranny will lead to monstrous crimes, reminiscent of despots of the Middle Ages, the Counter Reformation, and Nazi Germany. In his madness, he will reach back and grasp the hands of the predominant persecuting power of the pre-modern era, which still lives today (Revelation 17:8). They will form the world's most formidable union of church and state (Revelation 13:14). Their coalition will shed the blood of martyrs and persecute our sons and daughters (Revelation 13:15-18). But in heaven “the court shall be seated and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and destroy it forever” (Daniel 7:26 NKJV).

Congress cannot protect American Democracy if it neglects to use the power of impeachment to remove corrupt predatory presidents such as Donald Trump. Although it has become glaringly clear that Trump’s execrable behavior is currently the most pernicious threat to the health of the child, the Republicans in the Senate have opted to cuddle a corrupt president but to drop American Democracy on his head!

There is no better time than now to put our entire trust in God and actively contend for the preservation of American Democracy as long as we can!
